History

Shimo-Amazu Station is on the Miyafuku Line of WILLER TRAINS' Kyōto Tango Railway in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto Prefecture, and carries station number F5. The Fukuchiyama Rail Promotion Council nicknames it "Hananami-tōge Station" after the nearby Hananami-yama and Hananami pass. The station opened on 16 July 1988 alongside the Miyafuku Railway's Miyafuku Line, which later became part of Kitakinki Tango Railway. On 1 April 2015 operation was transferred to WILLER TRAINS, when the line came into service as the Kyōto Tango Railway's Miyafuku Line. A single side platform on the west of the line serves a bidirectional track, the station has no station building, and the platform is reached by stairs from a small forecourt holding only a bicycle rack and a toilet.

Notes

Although the station has neither a building nor a ticket machine, an officially registered nickname — "Hananami-tōge Station" — was assigned by the city's rail-promotion council; it points to the nearby Hananami pass rather than to anything visible from the platform.
