History
Shidai-Igakubu Station opened on 5 July 1989 with the start of service on the Kanazawa Seaside Line between Shin-Sugita and Kanazawa-hakkei. The elevated station consists of a single island platform serving two tracks, with platform-edge doors installed. Multiple exits lead from the concourse below the platform, including a direct walkway to the adjacent Yokohama City University Hospital — a connection that makes the station heavily used by hospital visitors. The station is staffed on weekdays from roughly 10:00 to 17:00 only; on weekends and holidays it operates as an unattended station. From April 2010 the spring manufacturer NHK Spring (Nippatsu) held the naming rights for three years, during which time the station carried the sub-name "Nippatsu-mae".
