History
Shōnan-Machiya Station opened on 7 March 1970 with the inauguration of the Shōnan Monorail Enoshima Line between Ōfuna and Nishi-Kamakura, 2.0 kilometres from the northern terminus at Ōfuna in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. A barrier-free new station building entered service on 2 March 2005. Automatic fare gates and fare-adjustment machines were activated on 30 March 2016, and PASMO became usable on 1 April 2018. The elevated station has a single side platform serving one track, with elevator access from the ground-level station building. Although unattended, push-on attendants and ticket-collection staff are deployed during weekday morning rush periods. The station also carries the sub-name "Mitsubishi Denki-mae" after the adjacent Mitsubishi Electric Kamakura Works.
