History

Okuchō Station opened on 4 August 1914 on the Meitetsu Bisai Line in Okuchō, Ichinomiya, Aichi. Operations between Okuchō and Kisogawa-Minato were suspended on 21 March 1944 as the war worsened, and revenue service between Okuchō and Tamanoi resumed on 28 December 1951. Freight handling ended in fiscal 1962, and on 12 May 1968 a new Shin-Nagoya–Tamanoi limited express via Tsushima began calling at the station; following the 6 July 1969 timetable revision this train was downgraded to a semi-express, and from the 25 December 1970 revision almost all calling trains became locals. The station was made unstaffed on 8 August 2007 in conjunction with the introduction of the Transpas system; manaca acceptance began on 11 February 2011, and Transpas service ended on 29 February 2012.
