History
Higashi-Fusamoto Station serves the Isumi Railway Isumi Line in Ōtaki, Isumi District, Chiba Prefecture, 19.6 kilometres from the eastern line terminus at Ōhara. It opened on 1 February 1937 as a halt on the government railway Kihara Line, served only by gasoline-powered railcars at first. The station closed on 10 June 1945 and reopened exactly a year later, becoming unstaffed in September 1954. Operation passed to JR East at the 1987 JNR privatisation, and on 24 March 1988 the Kihara Line was transferred to the third-sector Isumi Railway. In November 2008 the waiting shelter was rebuilt for the TV Tokyo show "Champions".
