History

Ajiyoshi Station (KM11) is on the Meitetsu Komaki Line in Nishi-honmachi, Kasugai, Aichi, 3.7 km from the line's origin at Kami-Iida. It opened on 11 February 1931 with a single-side platform, gained a passing loop and two opposed side platforms before 1957, and was upgraded to a single island platform on 1 April 1979 when the Toyoyama signal-station–Ajiyoshi section was double-tracked. A second station building was completed on 14 April 1980, Manaca service began on 11 February 2011, and on 27 June 2020 a third generation of station buildings was opened with platforms reconfigured back to two opposed side platforms divided by direction. Ridership rose sharply after the Kami-Iida Connecting Line (Nagoya Municipal Subway Kami-Iida Line) opened in 2003.

Notes

There are two Ajiyoshi stations in Kasugai sharing the same kanji but operated by different companies — this Meitetsu Komaki Line station and the JR-Central Transport Service Jōhoku Line station about 700 m to the south — and the two are not transfer-linked even though they sit close enough that a planned 1970s spur from this station to Komaki Airport's terminal was once on the books.
