History

Fujinomiya Station opened on 20 July 1913 as part of the original Minobu Line under the name Omiya Station, in what is now Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture. The Japan National Railway took over operation of the Minobu Line on 1 May 1941, and on 1 October 1942 the station was renamed to its present name. The station building was rebuilt in 1983. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Central, and a 2007 remodelling added barrier-free access. Station numbering CC06 was introduced to the Minobu Line in March 2018.

Notes

Track 1 is an auxiliary side platform used primarily for chartered trains operated by the Soka Gakkai religious organisation, whose headquarters draw frequent group travel to Fuji-san Hongu Sengen Taisha across the street.
