History

Kawamiya Station opened on 23 March 2001 with the start of Nagoya Guideway Bus operations on the Shidami Line (Yutorito Line). It was provisionally named 'Kawamura-minami' during planning. The line is the only guided-bus service in Japan; the elevated guided-bus section is legally classified as a railway, and operation adheres to the Railway Business Act in the manner of monorail and automated guideway transit systems.

Notes

Kawamiya is an unstaffed elevated stop with two opposed side platforms and two tracks (station number Y06). Like the other stops between here and Shirosawa Keikoku Station, elevators and stairs are provided on each side for one direction only, so passengers cannot cross between platforms without leaving the station. Nearby landmarks include the Asahi Breweries Nagoya factory, Ryūsenji Highway (Aichi Prefectural Route 30), Obata Castle, Yamashita Park and the Nagoya City Moriyama Pool.
