History
Yamaguchi Station opened on 31 January 1988, when the third-sector Aichi Loop Railway took over the partly built JNR Okatadō Line and inaugurated through service between Shin-Toyota and Kōzōji. Located in Tanaka-chō, Seto, it sits 34.6 kilometres from the line's starting point at Okazaki and was numbered station 19. The platform was extended from two to four cars in 1989, the station was staffed beginning on 1 April 1998, and the building was refurbished in November 2012 with barrier-free ticket machines. Ridership has trended upward as residential development around the station has accelerated and Toyota-related commuters have begun using direct Toyota-bound services.
