History
Izumo Minari Station opened on 18 December 1932 when the Kisuki Line was extended from Kisuki Station. The line was further extended to Yakawa Station on 20 November 1934. The station passed to JR West with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987.

Izumo Minari has two opposed ground-level side platforms connected by a level crossing. The station is staffed, and the station building doubles as a shop promoting locally-grown crops and other regional products.
