History

Jimokuji Station opened on 23 January 1914 on the Nagoya Electric Railway's Tsushima Line, with the station building completed the following year. A new south-side ticket hall opened on 1 October 1975. Tranpass entered service on 15 July 2004, and on 27 December 2008 a timetable revision brought limited express trains to a stop here for the first time, making the station a full-stop for every revenue service on the Tsushima Line. Manaca IC ticketing began on 11 February 2011, and a north-side station building opened on 26 March 2011. Today Jimokuji is the busiest station within Ama City and the only attended station within the municipality.

Notes

Jimokuji is the closest station to the Jimokuji Kannon temple, one of Owari's Four Kannon — initial-shrine and Setsubun visitors swell ridership above neighbouring Tsushima Line stops several days a year.
