History

Shobata Station opened on 23 January 1914 in what is now the city of Aisai, Aichi Prefecture, and is operated by Meitetsu. It lies on the Meitetsu Tsushima Line, 9.0 kilometres from the line's starting point at Sukaguchi, and serves as one of the intermediate stops between Nagoya and Tsushima. The station has two opposed side platforms connected by an overpass; the platform for trains in the Nagoya direction is the longer of the two and can accept eight-car formations, while the opposing platform accommodates only up to six cars. In fiscal 2017 ridership averaged 4,523 boarding passengers daily, putting the station among the busier intermediate stops on the line.
