History

Amagasaka Station, on the Meitetsu Seto Line, is in Kita-ku, Nagoya. It opened on 23 May 1911. The route alignment was altered on 15 October 1956 so that the station, previously running roughly north–south, now runs east–west. The Seto Line was elevated at this point in two stages — the up track on 10 December 1989 and the down track on 30 September 1990. Central station management replaced the staffed booth on 25 July 2006 with introduction of the TranPass magnetic-card system, and Manaca IC fare cards became available from 11 February 2011. The SAKUMACHI commercial development beside the elevated structure opened in March 2019.

Notes

Until 1956, an additional stop named Shagūshi Station stood between Amagasaka and neighbouring Morishita; it disappeared when the line was realigned to its present east–west orientation.
