History

Nishi-Fujiwara Station opened on 23 December 1931 as the terminus of the Sangi Line, operated by Sangi Railway, in what is now Inabe, Mie Prefecture. The station sits 26.5 rail kilometres from the opposite terminus at Kintetsu-Tomida. A replacement station building shaped to resemble a steam locomotive was completed in July 2002. The single island platform has its second face given over to a static display of three preserved locomotives rather than to revenue service.

Notes

The station building was rebuilt in 2002 in the silhouette of a steam locomotive, and three retired locomotives are displayed on the unused side of the island platform.
