History
Fukiage Station opened on 30 March 1994 at Chikusa-dōri 7-chōme, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, as a station on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Sakura-dōri Line. The station straddles the boundary between Chikusa-ku and Shōwa-ku, with exits 3 and 4 located in Shōwa-ku and the others in Chikusa-ku. Platform-edge sliding doors entered service on 21 May 2011.

Because the Sakura-dōri Line passes under the deep cut-and-cover Nagoya Expressway Route 2 Higashiyama Line at this point, the platforms lie at an unusually deep underground location; the maintenance base for the Sakura-dōri Line is located between the up and down tracks just to the Imaike side of the station. The concourse is split north-south and cannot be walked through, requiring a station re-entry.
