History
Ageki Station opened on 8 July 1931 as a Hokusei Railway stop and the terminus of the present-day Hokusei Line. The operator was renamed Hokusei Electric Railway in 1934, was absorbed into Sanco in 1944, transferred to Mie Electric Railway in 1964, and passed to Kintetsu through a 1965 merger. Kintetsu lengthened the platform from 51 to 71 metres between 1977 and 1978, and the station became unstaffed in 1999 when ticket vending was automated. On 1 April 2003 Kintetsu handed control of the Hokusei Line — and Ageki — to Sangi Railway, and a new station building reopened with staffing on 1 December 2006.
