History

Mizuho Undōjō Nishi Station is an underground stop on the Nagoya Municipal Subway's Sakura-dōri Line, located in Mizuho-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, and 11.1 kilometres from the line's terminus at Taiko-dori. The station opened on 30 March 1994 simply as Mizuho Undōjō Station; it was renamed to add the directional suffix Nishi on 6 October 2004, when the Meijō Line's Mizuho Undōjō Higashi Station opened on the opposite side of Mizuho Park to distinguish the two. A single underground island platform serves the line, and platform screen doors entered service on 25 June 2011. The station carries the identifier S13.

Notes

Until the Meijō Line's Mizuho Undōjō Higashi opened in 2004, this station was the closest subway access to Mizuho Athletic Stadium and crowded heavily on football matchdays; daily traffic has since fallen as Higashi absorbed the stadium-side passengers.
