History
Jōsui Station opened on 29 July 1979 on the Meitetsu Toyota Line, in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. The Tranpass fare system and a centralised station management system were introduced on 1 October 2003, and an elevator was added in fiscal 2007. Rapid passenger growth led to round-the-clock staffing from 2009, and IC card travel using manaca began on 11 February 2011. After Tranpass service ended in February 2012, the station retained an attendant until 1 July 2023, when it became unstaffed. The track approaches are built in cutting, after local opposition to a planned embankment that would have divided surrounding farmland.

Notes
The station now leads the Toyota Line in passenger volume, helped by nearby Chukyo University's Toyota campus and the residential development around Jōsui Town.
