History

Toyodahommachi Station entered service on 20 February 1957 on the Meitetsu Tokoname Line, 1.4 km south of the line's Jingū-mae terminus. Elevation works rebuilt the line on viaduct between 1983 and 1984, and on 10 December 2004 the Tranpass magnetic fare-card system was introduced together with the centralised station management system that de-staffed the station. The manaca smart-card system replaced Tranpass on 11 February 2011, and the platform was raised with elevators added in March 2015. Today only local trains call at the single elevated island platform.

Notes

The district that gave the station its name — Toyoda-honmachi in Minami Ward — was abolished as an address in 1985, leaving the station carrying the name of a neighbourhood that no longer formally exists.
