History

Misato Station opened on July 23, 1931 as a station on the present Sangi Line, then operated by the Sangi Railway. On June 1, 1968 it was renamed Ugakeiguchi Station to reflect its role as the boarding point for the railway's bus service to the Ugakei gorge; the bus service was later moved to Daian Station, and the station reverted to its original name on March 25, 1986. A new station building was completed in March 2004, and a small in-house museum of Sangi Railway rolling stock operated on its second floor between May 2004 and March 2006. A derailment occurred in the station precinct on November 8, 2012. The station has a single island platform serving two tracks, connected to the station building by a level crossing.
