History
Aioiyama Station opened on 27 March 2011 as part of the Sakura-dōri Line's extension from Nonami to Tokushige, with its name formally settled on 17 May 2010. The single underground island platform sits roughly 20 metres below the surface because of the hilly ground above, and is fitted with platform-edge doors capable of handling trains up to six 20-metre cars. Step-free access is provided at both surface exits. The station is managed from the Sakura-dōri Line's Imaike district office and has been operated under contract by Nippon Express since opening day.

Notes
Aioiyama lies twenty metres below the surface — deeper than most central Nagoya subway stops — because the line had to thread under a residential hill that the city declined to level.
