History

Tsukiji-guchi Station opened on 29 March 1971 as a station on what was then the Meijō Line (Line 2) of the Nagoya Municipal Subway in Minato-ku, Nagoya. Until November 1971 the Nagoya Municipal Tram's Chikkō and Tsukiji lines still ran above, allowing transfer between the new subway and the surface streetcar network. With the line reorganisation of 6 October 2004, when Line 4 between Nagoya University and Aratamabashi opened, the station was reassigned to the renamed Meikō Line, of which it remains stop E06. Daily operation has been outsourced to Nippon Express since 27 March 2011, and platform-screen doors entered service on 1 June 2020.
