History

Suruga-Tokuyama Station opened on 12 April 1931 as one of the original stations of the Ōigawa Railway's Ōigawa Main Line, located in present-day Kawanehon, Haibara District, Shizuoka Prefecture. The wooden station building, in the line's standard style with a tile roof, has been continuously staffed since opening. Until 30 September 2011 the Kawane-Ji-gō ("Kawane-Path") steam-locomotive-hauled service called at the station. Following typhoon damage to the Iena – Senzu section on 24 September 2022, train service to and through the station has been suspended; the substitute bus cannot reach the station because of road constraints, so the replacement bus stop is in front of the Chacha-Maru noodle shop on National Route 362 nearby.
