History

Funamachiguchi Station is a single-platform JR West stop on the Kakogawa Line in Nishiwaki, Hyōgo Prefecture. It opened on 1924-12-27 as a halt on the Banshū Railway between Nomura (today Nishiwaki-shi) and Tanikawa, originally carrying only passenger traffic. Banshū Railway was nationalised on 1943-06-01 and the halt was promoted to full station status as part of the JNR Kakogawa Line. The current capsule-shaped station building was constructed in 1976 and was reportedly the first of its style. The station passed to JR West at the 1987 JNR breakup, joined the Kakogawa Railway District in 1990, and reverted to direct Kōbe Branch management when the district was dissolved on 2009-07-01.

Notes

The station building, rebuilt in 1976, is a small free-standing capsule and was reportedly the first capsule-style station building when constructed.
