History

Nishibessho Station is a single-platform stop on the Sangi Railway Hokusei Line in Kuwana, Mie Prefecture, 2.0 km from the line's terminus at Nishi-Kuwana. It opened on 1914-04-05 as a Hokusei Railway station, became Hokusei Electric Railway on 1934-06-27, and through wartime and postwar consolidations joined Kintetsu by 1965-04-01. The platform was extended by five metres on 1977-04-20. The Hokusei Line was transferred to the third-sector Sangi Railway on 2003-04-01, and a new station building was completed on 2004-03-25. The station has remained unstaffed, serving a residential area in western Kuwana close to the Nishibessho post office.
