History
Hobo Station opened on 23 July 1931 in what was then Hobo Village in Mie District, today incorporated into Yokkaichi City. It is operated by the private Sangi Railway as a station on the Sangi Line. The station consists of a single island platform connected to the station building by a level crossing, with the line's car depot, facilities depot and control centre all located on the grounds. Although equipped with major operating infrastructure, the station is classed as a special-duty stop for passenger purposes and is unstaffed in the early morning and at night. The station number is S06.

A scale museum called the Hakari-no-Yakata, dedicated to weighing scales, once stood to the west of Hobo Station; it closed permanently on 30 March 2014.
