History
Uzumasa Tenjingawa Station is the western terminus of the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tōzai Line, located in Ukyō-ku, Kyoto, and the first Tōzai Line station to open in that ward. It opened on 16 January 2008 as the line was extended westwards from Nijō, beneath Oike-dori between the Sanjō-Oike and Tenjingawa-Oike intersections. The station carries the number T17 and is assigned a lemon-yellow station colour. Most through-running Keihan Keishin Line trains terminate here. A connecting Keifuku Randen station, Randen-Tenjingawa, opened just above the entrance on 28 March 2008, replacing the former Kaikonoyashiro as the closest tram interchange and integrating the area with new civic buildings such as the relocated Ukyō ward office.

Notes
The station's name was decided by combining the two top responses to a 2007 public-naming poll: "Tenjingawa" took 51% as the leading single choice and "Uzumasa" took 12% as the second; the city operator chose to merge them rather than pick the outright winner.
