History
Nishiōji-Sanjō Station opened on 25 March 1910 as Sanjō-guchi Station on the Arashiyama Densha Kidō — the name a reference to the historical "Sanjō-machi entrance" through Hideyoshi's Odoi earthwork at the point where Sanjō-dōri crossed it, rather than to any modern district. After the 2 April 1918 company merger the stop became part of Kyoto Dentō's Arashiyama Electric Railway, and on 2 March 1942 it passed to Keifuku Electric Railroad. It was renamed Nishiōji-Sanjō on 19 March 2007.

Notes
The stop is split across Nishiōji-dōri: the Shijō-Ōmiya-bound platform sits in the middle of the road as a tram safety zone, while the Arashiyama-bound platform is a side platform on the opposite side, giving the stop a staggered layout.
