History

Shiogō Station is an unstaffed stop on the Ōigawa Railway Main Line in the town of Kawanehon, Haibara District, Shizuoka Prefecture. It opened on 23 September 1930 as one of the line's original stations and sits 24.3 km from the line's starting point at Kanaya. The platform is wedged between the Ōi River and Shizuoka Prefectural Route 77; widening of the prefectural road and accompanying revetment work shifted the main track roughly five metres towards the river, after which the original timber-and-earth platform was rebuilt in concrete and reoriented to face the road. Service was suspended on 24 September 2022 after typhoon-related landslide damage.

Notes

A pedestrian suspension bridge directly beside the station, the 220-metre Kunowaki Bridge, is commonly known locally as the Shiogō Suspension Bridge and also carries the affectionate name "Koigane-bashi" given by the former Naka-Kawane town.
