History

Jūjō Station (K13) is on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line in Higashi-Kujō Minami-Ishida-chō, Minami-ku, Kyoto, beneath the Jūjō–Karasuma intersection where Jūjō-dōri crosses Karasuma-dōri. It opened on 11 June 1988 with the Karasuma Line extension from Kyoto to Takeda, and PiTaPa IC service began on 1 April 2007. The single island platform serves two tracks underground; only one ticket gate exists, staffed in person only during the morning and evening rush periods (7:30–8:30, 17:30–18:30) and handled by remote operators otherwise. In April 2010 the station name board acquired an advertising suffix listing a neighbouring business ("NS Slitter / Nishimura-Seisakusho-mae").

Notes

Although the Kintetsu Kyoto Line's Jūjō Station shares the same name and is only about 700 m west, the two are not transfer-linked and use different ticket and IC systems — and they sit in different chōme of the same Minami-ku, a quirk Wikipedia notes under the Japanese-stations-with-the-same-name-and-municipality list.
