History
Kawana Station opened on 10 December 1961 as one of the original stops on the Izu Kyūkō Line, the privately built railway that runs along the east coast of the Izu peninsula from Itō southward to Izukyū-Shimoda. The stop sits 6.1 rail kilometres from Itō Station and 23.0 kilometres from Atami. The station has two opposed ground-level side platforms connected by a level crossing and is staffed. The station building was rebuilt in 1980.
