History
Terashō Station opened on December 25, 1959 as an intermediate stop between Kōka and Kōnan on the Japan National Railways Kusatsu Line, in present-day Kōka, Shiga Prefecture. The station passed to JR West at JNR privatization on April 1, 1987. A new station building with a free passage was completed on December 4, 2010 and brought fully into use on March 21, 2011, and the station was placed under simplified franchise management on April 1 of the same year. ICOCA service via simplified IC fare gates began on March 17, 2018.
