History
Kumoi Station opened on 8 May 1933 as a stop of the Japanese Government Railway, was suspended from 1 October 1943 under the wartime non-essential-line rationalisation, and reopened on 25 July 1947. Freight handling ended on 1 February 1962, parcel handling on 1 May 1962, and the station was made unstaffed on 11 May 1962. JNR was privatised on 1 April 1987 and the Shigaraki Line passed to JR West, then was transferred to the third-sector Shigaraki Kohgen Railway on 13 July 1987.
