History
Chita Taketoyo Station opened on 1 July 1932 as a stop on the Chita Railway. The Chita Railway was absorbed into the Meitetsu group on 1 February 1943, making the station part of the present Meitetsu Kōwa Line. A new station building was completed on 1 October 1977. Automatic ticket gates were installed in May 1987, and the Tranpass magnetic-fare-card system was introduced on 14 July 2006, followed by Manaca on 11 February 2011. Although it had been a fully staffed station for decades, Chita Taketoyo was unstaffed throughout the day from 30 September 2023, now managed remotely from Chita Handa Station.

Notes
About 500 metres east of the Meitetsu station lies JR Central's Taketoyo Station; in fiscal 2019 the latter recorded only 697 daily boardings, less than a fifth of Chita Taketoyo's ridership.
