History

Taoji Station opened on 18 December 1928 with the inauguration of the Sanda Line of the Kōbe-Arima Electric Railway, in present-day Kita Ward, Kobe. The operator became the Shinyū-Miki Electric Railway through a 1947 merger with the Miki Electric Railway, and is today's Kobe Electric Railway (Shintetsu). On 20 March 1998 the Okaba-Taoji section was double-tracked and the station was rebuilt with an elevated bridge-style station building. The double track from the south now terminates just north of Taoji, so a portion of southbound services cross with opposing trains here. The platform has effective length for four cars, with space reserved for extension.
