History

Kinoyama Station opened on 20 June 1926 as the terminus of the Hakubi South Line, when the line was extended from Mibukuro. The following year, on 31 July 1927, a further extension to Bitchū-Kawamo made it a through-station. The Hakubi South Line was reorganised into the Hakubi Line on 25 October 1928. Freight handling ended on 1 April 1963 and parcel service ceased on 1 October 1971, when the station was destaffed. With the dissolution of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR West. ICOCA cards became usable on 13 March 2021. Kinoyama serves Takahashi in Okayama Prefecture, 38.8 km from Kurashiki along the Hakubi Line.
