History

Unobe Station opened on 1 June 1990 as an elevated monorail stop on the inaugural Senri-Chūō to Minami-Ibaraki section of the Osaka Monorail Main Line. Originally named Ibaraki Station, it shared its name with the larger JR Ibaraki Station despite having no direct interchange, which caused persistent passenger confusion. To resolve this, the monorail station was renamed Unobe on 1 April 1997. The station is built in the city of Ibaraki, Osaka, and is assigned station number 18. It consists of a single elevated island platform serving two tracks, enclosed by full-height glass walls and platform-edge doors.

Notes

Until 1997 the station shared its name with the JR Ibaraki Station nearby, yet the two are not directly connected; the rename was prompted by repeated traveler confusion.
