History
Nishi-Shikama Station opened on 15 October 1940 with the inauguration of the Sanyo Electric Railway Aboshi Line between Den-Tetsu Shikama (now Shikama) and Yumesakigawa. The station was elevated on 31 October 1987. In July 2016 it emerged that, on a stair landing, a visually impaired user's white cane had become caught on construction barriers placed on the tactile-paving strip, and the user had been seriously injured. The station, in Imazaike 4-chōme, Shikama-ku, Himeji, is numbered SY 51. It consists of relative platforms serving two tracks on an elevated structure, with a sole gate on the Shikama side at ground level. The station is unstaffed and is monitored by periodic patrol staff.
