History
Osaka Airport Station opened on 1 April 1997 as the western terminus of the Osaka Monorail Main Line, extending the line from what was then Shibahara Station and giving Itami Airport its first rail link directly into the terminal building. Platform screen doors entered service on 8 February 2020. The station building straddles the municipal boundary between Toyonaka and Ikeda, though the official address falls on the Toyonaka side. Only the second platform face is in regular passenger use; the first is reserved for the first morning train, a handful of weekday rush-hour services, and trains arriving to be deadheaded.

Notes
The station building sits inside an enclave where Toyonaka, Ikeda, and even Hyōgo's Itami city interlock so tightly that the platforms straddle two cities, yet the official address is just "Toyonaka."
