History
Bitchu-Takahashi Station opened on 20 June 1926, on what is now the Hakubi Line in Takahashi, Okayama Prefecture. It lies 34.0 kilometres from the line terminus at Kurashiki and 49.9 kilometres from Okayama, and is the point where the Hakubi Line becomes single-track to the north. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR West, and a new station building was completed in April 2015. It consists of one island platform and one side platform connected by an elevated station building, and it is permanently staffed.

Notes
From Bitchu-Takahashi northward the Hakubi Line drops to a single track - this station is the operational pinch-point dividing the double-tracked southern section from the single-tracked north.
