History
Imaihama-Kaigan Station opened on 10 December 1961 as a seasonal stop, operated only during the summer months because of its proximity to local beaches on the Izu Peninsula. It was converted to a permanent year-round station on 1 March 1969. A replacement station building was completed in July 2006. The station is on the Izu Kyuko Line, which links Ito with Izukyu-Shimoda along the eastern coast of Shizuoka Prefecture, and is operated by Izukyu Corporation. Ridership is modest, averaging 132 passengers daily in fiscal 2017 and falling to roughly 86 per day by 2020.
