History

Kawazu Station opened on 10 December 1961 on the privately operated Izu Kyuko Line, in the town of Kawazu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The line was conceived as an extension of the JNR Ito Line down the eastern Izu Peninsula. The station building underwent a renovation completed on 29 January 2010, and from 26 March 2015 the local song "Amagi-goe" has been used as the departure melody, the first themed melody on the Izu Kyuko Line. The station has two elevated opposing side platforms serving two tracks, with elevators between the platforms and the concourse. Its station number is IZ13, and in fiscal 2020 it averaged 392 boardings per day.
