History

Higashi-Mikuni Station opened on 24 February 1970 as part of the Osaka Municipal Subway’s extension of the Midōsuji Line from Shin-Ōsaka to Esaka, in what was then Higashiyodogawa-ku, Osaka. A 1974 ward reorganisation transferred the station’s address to the newly created Yodogawa-ku on 22 July of that year. On 1 April 2018 it passed from the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau to the corporatised Osaka Metro, and movable platform-edge doors were brought into service on 15 January 2022. The stop is configured as a single elevated island platform serving two tracks, with the concourse on the second floor and the platforms above; ticket gates are on both the north and south sides, each with its own ostomate-accessible multi-purpose toilet.
