History
Idamichi Station opened on 18 July 1922 with the original Iga Railway's extension from Uenomachi (now Iga-Ueno) to Nabari, in what is now Iga, Mie Prefecture. The line passed through a chain of operators - Iga Electric Railway (1926), Osaka Electric Tramway Iga Line (1929), Sangū Express Electric Railway (1931), and Kansai Express Railway (1941) - before becoming part of Kintetsu via the wartime 1944 merger. The internal level crossing was removed and the station became unstaffed on 6 and 15 March 2000 respectively. On 1 October 2007 the line was spun off as the present Iga Railway, taking the station with it. Two opposed side platforms accept up to two-car trains.

Notes
After the 2000 closure of the internal level crossing, passengers wanting to reach the opposite platform must walk out of the station and use a public level crossing about a block north of the building.
