History

Ichibe Station opened on 25 May 1926 on what is now the Iga Line. The line passed through a sequence of operators — renamed to Iga Electric Railway in December 1926, merged into Osaka Electric Tramway in 1929, transferred to Sangū Express Electric Railway in 1931, becoming part of Kansai Express Railway in 1941 and then the Kintetsu network on 1 June 1944. The station was closed from 1 June 1945 through 21 October 1947 in the wartime and immediate-postwar period. The line was spun off as the independent Iga Railway on 1 October 2007. The unstaffed halt has a single short side platform that can accommodate only two-car trains and sits 9.2 km along the line from Iga-Ueno.
