History
Gakken Nara-Tomigaoka Station opened on 27 March 2006 as the terminus of the Kintetsu Keihanna Line extension from Ikoma. Its final name was decided in January 2005, replacing the planning-stage placeholder "Tomigaoka"; the prefix "Gakken" refers to the Kansai Science City, while "Tomigaoka" derives from the older place-name "Torimi" recorded in classical sources. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007. The station carries the line code C30 — numbered through from the directly connected Osaka Metro Chūō Line — and consists of a single elevated island platform serving two tracks, with the structure tapering at its end in anticipation of a possible further extension.
