History

Nakazakichō Station (station number T19) opened on 29 May 1974 as an intermediate stop on the Osaka Municipal Subway Tanimachi Line when the line was extended between Higashi-Umeda and Miyakojima. It serves the Nakazaki district of Kita-ku, Osaka, with a single underground island platform and one ticket gate. Ownership transferred from the Osaka Municipal Transportation Bureau to Osaka Metro on 1 April 2018 when the municipal operator was privatised. Platform screen doors entered service on 22 May 2025. The station sits within walking distance of the Umeda terminal cluster and remains under the jurisdiction of the Higashi-Umeda district office.

Notes

The surrounding Nakazakichō neighbourhood escaped the Pacific War firebombings, so a number of pre-war wooden buildings remain and now house a cluster of retro cafés and second-hand boutiques.
