History

Kōnu Station opened on 15 November 1935 as a stop on what is now the JR West Fukuen Line in Miyoshi, Hiroshima Prefecture. It lies 54.7 rail kilometres from the southern terminus of the line at Fukuyama. Operation passed from the Japanese National Railways to JR West at the privatisation of 1 April 1987. The station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track and has been unattended for many years; in fiscal 2019 it averaged just twelve passengers per day.
