History
Jōge Station opened on 15 November 1935 when the Railway Ministry's Fukuen North Line was extended from Kisa to Jōge as its temporary terminus. On 28 July 1938 the line reached Fuchūmachi (today's Fuchū), at which point Jōge became a through-station and the Fukuyama-Shiomachi corridor was redesignated the Fukuen Line. Freight handling ceased on 10 December 1970 and parcel handling on 14 March 1985. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR West. Sited in the city of Fuchū, Hiroshima Prefecture, it has two opposing side platforms connected by a footbridge.
