History
Watanabebashi Station opened on 19 October 2008 with the inauguration of the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line, the only new line Keihan has built in decades. The underground station sits in Nakanoshima 3-chōme, Kita-ku, Osaka, with an island platform on basement level three and ticket gates on basement two. An underground retail mall called 'MINAMO' opens onto basement one. New exits were added in April and May 2009 to connect with adjacent office buildings, and on 17 April 2017 a 13-exit was opened linking the station to the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line's Higobashi Station via the Nakanoshima Festival Tower West.

Notes
An 'Inuksuk' stone monument donated by the Kansai-Canada Business Association stands outside the station's ticket gates — an unusual indoor sight on the Osaka subway network.
